Journalist Maura Axelrod is a writer by training, and a director and producer of news and documentaries. Maura made her start as a writer and producer at ABC news in New York. She relocated to the Middle East during the early 2000’s, working in print and television journalism, living and working in Istanbul and Jerusalem.  In 2007 she began covering Caribbean region for Associated Press Television News. Maura has directed and produced long-form television documentaries for the award-winning news shows “World Report” and  “Dan Rather Reports”. Maura’s most recent project was a feature-length documentary, titled Maurizio CattelanBe Right Back about the contemporary artist Maurizio Cattelan. Be Right Back premiered at the Guggenheim Museum in New York as a special presentation in the Tribeca Film Festival. It aired on the BBC’s prestigious “Imagine” series, it was the film selection at Art Basel Miami in 2017, and it has played on TV and in film festivals around the world.As a freelance producer, Maura’s work has appeared on outlets worldwide, including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, BBC, ITN, Al Jazeera, PBS News Hour, National Geographic Channel, The New York Times, and The Daily Show. 

 

Maura lives with her family in Colorado and New York.
